Nevada Republicans widen leads in Senate, governor's races
Nevada is one of a handful of battleground states that will decide which of the major parties takes control of the Senate in the November midterm elections.
Nevada Republicans Adam Laxalt and Joe Lombardo have widened their leads over their Democratic opponents in the state's Senate and gubernatorial contests, respectively.
In the latest Trafalgar Group poll, Lombardo took a commanding, near-seven-point lead over incumbent Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak among likely voters with 50.9% support to 44.1%.
Laxalt, meanwhile, outperformed Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto by more than four points, 49.8% to 45.6%. Both leads exceeded the survey's +/- 2.9% margin of error. The survey was conducted between Oct. 21-24 among 1,100 likely voters.
Though this latest shows the largest lead thus far for either Republican, it is far from an outlier. An American Greatness/InsiderAdvantage poll recently showed Lombardo with a comparable six-point lead, while Laxalt was two-points up over Cortez Masto.
The RealClearPolitics polling average currently gives Laxalt a 1.2% edge overall while Lombardo commands a 2.4% average lead. The forecaster projects Republican victories in both races.
