California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom's official press account attempted to mock the Trump administration through a dubious Star Wars reference by posting an AI voiceover of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller.

Newsom made the post amid ongoing riots in Los Angeles and seemingly attempted to satirize Miller's condemnation of the rioters.

The post from Newsom featured an image of a Miller post saying "[t]he insurrectionist mobs will be defeated. Our love for America is stronger than their hatred. Sovereignty will be restored. The illegals will be returned. Our way of life will prevail."

The background included footage of General Grievous, an iconic villain from "Revenge of the Sith" and the "Clone Wars" series. The AI voiceover attempted to mimic his robotic voice.

The irony appeared somewhat lost on Newsom as Grievous, in canon, was the leader of a separatist faction rather than an enforcer of central authority.

Comments on the post largely roasted Newsom for appearing to make Miller seem appealing. Others highlighted his questionable understanding of Star Wars lore.
