NH Gov. Sununu to endorse Haley: report
It remains unclear what effect, if any, Sununu's endorsement will have on the primary as DeSantis previously secured the backing of Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds but failed to secure a meaningful boost in polling from it.
New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu will reportedly endorse former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for president at a rally Tuesday evening, CNN reported, citing "two people familiar with his intentions."
"It's going to be a great day in New Hampshire with Governor [Sununu]," Haley tweeted. "See everyone in Manchester tonight."
Sununu has been a prominent critic of former President Donald Trump and previously declined in June to run for the GOP nomination himself. His home state is home to the second nominating contest in the Republican primary.
At present, former President Donald Trump leads by 27.0%, with 45.7% support, in the Granite State, according to RealClearPolitics. Haley trails with 18.7% while former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie commands 11.3% support, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis takes 7.7%, and tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy earns 7.0%.
Trump leads the race overall by 48.0%, with 60.5% support nationally. Haley and DeSantis are currently locked in a struggle for second place with 12.5% and 12.3% support, respectively.
It remains unclear what effect, if any, Sununu's endorsement will have on the primary as DeSantis previously secured the backing of Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds but failed to secure a meaningful boost in polling from it.
