Nikki Haley has sought Secret Service protection, citing threats over campaign: WSJ

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley on Monday told the Wall Street Journal that she had requested Secret Service protection due to her receipt of threats stemming from her Republican presidential campaign.

"We've had multiple issues," she said.

Haley stands as the last challenger of any standing to former President Donald Trump in the Republican primary, but trails him by an average 54.7%, according to RealClearPolitics.

Secret Service may provide protection to "[m]ajor Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates," whom the secretary of Homeland Security designates.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in July of last year announced that the Biden administration had rejected his application for Secret Service protection. His father was assassinated while campaigning for president in 1968.
