'Nobody cares what Rand Paul thinks': Sununu on 'Never Nikki' move

New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu on Friday excoriated Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, who the same day launched a "Never Nikki" initiative against his preferred Republican candidate for president, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

Paul on Friday launched the anti-Haley campaign, saying "Based on her record and campaign, I don’t see how any thoughtful or informed libertarian or conservative should vote for @NikkiHaley. If you agree, let your voice be heard."

"I am #NeverNikki and I hope you will be too," he added.

During an appearance on Newsmax, Sununu swatted down Paul's comments, suggesting that his efforts would count for little among voters in critical primary states.

"What does Rand Paul mean? Nothing. I'm sorry, but nobody cares what Rand Paul thinks in this race. This race is in Iowa and New Hampshire; it's in South Carolina. She's the only candidate that's surging," he said on Newsmax when pressed on Paul's decision.

"With all due respect to the senator, maybe when the U.S. Senate actually starts doing something and actually starts delivering some results, they can stand on their soapbox and think that their words matter, but until then, sorry Rand Paul. Nobody cares," he added.

"Nobody cares what Rand Paul thinks in this race."

Haley narrowly stands in second place for the Republican nomination, earning 11.3% support in the RealClearPolitics polling average, just ahead of Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, who earns 10.9% support. Former President Donald Trump leads with 61.1%.
