Ohio state GOP endorses Trump

The Ohio state Republican Party on Friday endorsed former President Donald Trump's bid to return to the White House in 2024, a potentially significant endorsement in the key battleground state that also carries weight in the party primary.

"President Trump has proven time and again that despite the unhinged and relentless attacks from the radical left, he will never give up on fighting for Ohio’s workers, business and families," Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex M. Triantafilou said in a press release from the Trump campaign. "His unapologetic leadership and commitment to putting America First is exactly what we need to reverse course from the failed policies of Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown."

"Whether it is brokering peace deals, renegotiating bad trade policies, or making America energy independent, President Trump knows how to get things done," he continued. "The sooner Republicans can coalesce around the clear choice at the top of the ticket, the sooner we can focus on the challenge of taking back the White House, flipping the U.S. Senate, and getting our country back on track."

"While we appreciate all of the Republican candidates who are passionately making their case to the American people, it is clear that President Trump is the right choice in this moment," he concluded.

The Buckeye State has been traditionally regarded as an electoral battleground in presidential elections, though Trump decisively carried Ohio in 2016 and 2020 and the state has moved toward the GOP in recent years.

Trump currently leads the GOP primary by an average 48.4%, according to RealClearPolitics.
