Pelosi offers 'enthusiastic support' for Harris to lead Democratic ticket
Pelosi was among the most high-ranking Democrats who reportedly met with Biden earlier this month to address his future.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Monday offered her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the Democratic ticket in November.
"Today, it is with immense pride and limitless optimism for our country's future that I endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States," she said, according to Punchbowl News's Jake Sherman. "My enthusiastic support for Kamala Harris for President is official, personal and political."
Pelosi was among the most high-ranking Democrats who reportedly met with Biden earlier this month to address his future. She reportedly showed him polling data that suggested he would lose to former President Donald Trump.
Biden opted against seeking reelection, announcing his decision in a Sunday X post and subsequently endorsing Harris to succeed him as the Democratic standard bearer.
The president's decision came just weeks ahead of the Democratic National Convention, leaving the party little time to rally behind an alternative nominee.
