McCarthy most popular congressional leader: Poll
Meanwhile, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has a 26% favorable rating and a 64% unfavorable rating.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is the most popular congressional leader among voters, according to a poll, which shows that 42% of voters view him favorably.
More people view McCarthy favorably than unfavorably, with just 41% of voters having a negative opinion of him, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released last week.
The poll also showed 17% are unsure how they feel about the California Republican leader.
The survey of 1,002 likely U.S. voters was conducted July 13, 16 and 17, and it has a 3% margin of error.
Meanwhile, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has a 26% favorable rating and a 64% unfavorable rating.
Both Senate and House Democratic leaders are more popular than McConnell but less popular than McCarthy. Senate Leader Chuck Schumer of New York has a favorability rating of 37% while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, also of New York, has a 34% favorability rating, The San Joaquin Valley Sun reported, citing Rasmussen.
McCarthy has a particularly high approval among Republican voters with a 66% favorability rating. His popularity has been rising since he faced a contentious battle among members of his own party to become speaker, a feat he only achieved after 15 rounds of votes.
