Trump and Harris in dead heat, voters say they need more info on Harris
Trump has a slight lead, but it falls within the poll's margin of error
As the 2024 election enters its final stretch, a new poll finds the presidential nominees are in a statistical dead heat. The poll also found a sizable share of voters say they do not know enough about Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
The New York Times and Siena College conducted a national poll of 1,695 likely voters from Sept. 3 to 6. The poll found that former President Donald Trump narrowly leads Harris 48% to 47%.
The lead is within the poll's 3% margin of error and remains largely unchanged since a Times/Siena poll in July, shortly after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
The national results agree with polls from seven battleground states showing Harris and Trump tied or Harris holding a slight lead.
