Trump continues cutting into Democrat advantage with Latino voters

Harris comes in at 54% among registered Latino voters, according to the poll, while Trump is at 40%. Kornacki points out that what is now a 14 percentage point difference was a 33 point difference in 2020 and a 38 point difference in 2016.

Former President Donald Trump has made major inroads with Latino voters, significantly cutting the Democrats’ advantage in that all-important voting bloc.

The Democrats’ advantage is at its lowest level going back four presidential cycles, according to a new national NBC News/Telemundo/CNBC poll.

Vice President Kamala Harris comes in at 54% among registered Latino voters, according to the poll, while Trump is at 40%. The other 6% say they’re unsure or wouldn’t vote. The margin of error in the poll is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

The Trump War Room cited the poll, tweeting out on X, “NBC POLL: President Trump has made a 19-point gain among Latino voters since 2020.” He then quoted MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki along with a video clip saying that "Four years ago, we were saying Donald Trump had made inroads with Hispanic voters — this suggests that has continued apace."

Kornacki points out that what is now a 14 percentage point difference was a 33 point difference in 2020 and a 38 point difference in 2016.

It should be noted that of the 1,000 Registered Latino Voters who were polled, 49% were Democrats or leaned Democrat, while just 37% were Republican or leaned Republican, with 13% independent.

The poll was conducted the week of September 17-23, thus before Vice-President Kamala Harris’s trip to the Arizona-Mexico border on Friday, after which the union representing the U.S. Border Patrol blasted Harris, claiming she was nowhere to be found when they needed her.
