Trump hits 60% in GOP primary poll, moving 41 points ahead of DeSantis
Former Vice President Mike Pence and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy are tied for third place with 5% support.
Former President Donald Trump has his biggest lead yet over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a hypothetical Republican primary poll released Tuesday.
Trump comes in at 61% support, with DeSantis 41 points behind at 19% support as the runner-up, according to a Morning Consult poll.
DeSantis has not declared his candidacy for the 2024 GOP primary, but he is seen as the most serious challenger to Trump in the primary. Tuesday's poll is DeSantis' lowest level of support since tracking started.
Following DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy are tied for third place with 5% support.
The poll also showed that President Joe Biden leads Trump by 2 points and DeSantis by 4 points. However, other polls have put Trump and DeSantis ahead of Biden.
The Morning Consult poll was conducted from May 5-7 with 3,574 potential Republican primary voters and a 2% margin of error.
