Former President Donald Trump is leading former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in her home state by 26% with their GOP presidential primary in the state Feb. 24, according to a new Washington Post poll.

The poll shows the front-running Trump has the support of 58% Republican primary voters in South Carolina while Haley has 32% support.

Haley came in second place to Trump during the New Hampshire primary. Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis came in third even though he dropped out prior to the election.

The former president said he didn't care whether Haley stayed in the primary following the New Hampshire election.

"Let her do whatever she wants. It doesn't matter," he said, according to The Hill.

The contest to win the 2024 GOP presidential nomination is now essentially a two-person race between Trump and Haley.

The Washington Post poll was conducted Jan. 26-30 among of 815 potential GOP primary voters. The margin of sampling error was +/- 3.9%.
