Project Veritas suspends operations amid funding collapse, O'Keefe departure

Investigative news outlet Project Veritas suspended operations this week amid a substantial drop in funding following the ouster of founder James O'Keefe.

HR Director Jennifer Kiyak announced a round of layoffs on Wednesday in a letter obtained by Mediaite.

"In the interest of preserving the possible future existence of Project Veritas we need to put operations on pause and, as communicated since the Spring, another Reduction in Force ('RIF') is necessary," she wrote.

Founder James O'Keefe confirmed his departure from the outlet in February of this year, beginning a tumultuous period for the organization as it sought to shore up its finances in the face of a donations drop off.

O'Keefe was placed on leave amid a dispute over his removing two members of the board.

He has since created O'Keefe Media Group, over which he maintains authority. His new venture conducts investigations and releases exposés in much the way Veritas did and includes a staff of journalists with whom he has collaborated over this years.
