A Republican leads in Oregon's 3-way gubernatorial race

In traditionally deep blue Oregon, a Republican is leading in the state's gubernatorial race which has been complicated by the independent candidacy of a former Democrat.

Former state House Minority Leader Christine Drazan leads with 36% support in an Emerson College poll. In a close second, former House Speaker Tina Kotek earned 34% support while independent candidate Betsy Johnson received 19%.

Drazan enjoys a modest lead with independent voters, earning the backing of 34% of them compared with Johnson's 29% and Kotek's 18%. Drazan took the support of 80% of Republicans while just 71% of Democrats backed Kotek. Johnson secured 9% support from Republicans but 17% from Democrats, suggesting her candidacy is pulling more votes from the left than right.

More than half of respondents, 52%, said that the Supreme Court's overturn of the landmark abortion precedent set in Roe v. Wade would have no impact on their voting plans.

The poll surveyed 796 very likely voters and has a margin of error of +/- 3.4%.

Drazan is currently leading in a number of other polls and has a 2.4% lead overall, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.
