Republicans hold narrow leads in Nevada: CNN poll

Republicans appear to hold a slim advantage in the pivotal swing state of Nevada's major races, a recent survey revealed.

The Republican candidates for both the governor's mansion and one of the state's Senate seats hold narrow leads over their Democratic rivals, according to a CNN poll.

In the race for governor, incumbent Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak trails his Republican opponent, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, by a 46%-48% margin among likely voters. The race is tied at 46% each when the survey accounts for all registered voters. The "likely voters" sample has a margin of error of +/- 5% while the entire sample's margin is +/- 4.7%, meaning the race remains a statistical tie.

In the Senate battle, former Republican Attorney General Adam Laxalt took the support of 48% of likely voters, compared with Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto's 46%. The race, however, flips in Cortez Masto's favor by a 47%-44% margin when all registered voters are sampled.

Both registered and likely voters overwhelmingly prioritized economic issues and inflation, with 44% in either group ranking it the top issue. Abortion placed second for both groups, with 14% among both registered and likely voters prioritizing it. Voting issues, gun policy, immigration, climate change, and crime followed in that order for either group.

The poll, conducted Sept. 26-Oct. 2, surveyed 926 registered voters, including 828 likely voters.
