RFK Jr. rejects prospect of taking Trump VP slot

Kennedy is currently looking to claim the Democratic nomination for president.

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday explicitly denied that he would consider joining with former President Donald Trump as his running mate in 2024.

"Just to quell any speculation, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES will I join Donald Trump on an electoral ticket," he tweeted. "Our positions on certain fundamental issues, our approaches to governance, and our philosophies of leadership could not be further apart."

Kennedy is currently looking to claim the Democratic nomination for president, though his challenge to President Joe Biden is generally considered a longshot. Recent polling data has shown him drawing the support of 14% of Biden voters.

Prior to his campaign announcement, he had largely drawn an audience due to his vocal opposition to stringent COVID-19 lockdown measures and vaccine mandates.

Speculation on Trump's choice of running mate continues to abound as he leads the polls for the Republican nomination.
