Rubio canvasser suffers brutal beating while going door to door

A political activist canvassing on behalf of Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio sustained significant injuries after a group of four assaulted him, ostensibly over his political affiliation.
Rubio posted graphic images of the individual, covered in blood, being transported in an ambulance. The canvasser, he asserted, has experienced internal bleeding, a broken jaw, and will need facial reconstructive surgery.
The Senator relayed an account of the attack, which said it was carried out by "4 animals who told [the canvasser] that Republicans weren't allowed in the neighborhood." The beating occurred in Hialeah, Florida, which is part of Miami-Dade County, traditionally a Democratic bastion.
Both Rubio and Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis face reelection in November. Neither race is considered a toss up, with Rubio holding an average 6.4% lead over Democratic challenger Val Demings and DeSantis holding a 10.0% advantage over Democratic rival Charlie Crist, per RealClearPolitics.
The canvasser was also wearing a DeSantis hat, Rubio noted. As of press time, the Florida governor does not appear to have made a public comment on the incident.
