Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that his country would prefer that President Joe Biden secure reelection in 2024 rather than deal with a restored Donald Trump.

During an appearance on Russian state media, Putin was asked which candidate he would prefer, to which he replied "Biden, he’s more experienced, more predictable, he’s a politician of the old formation," the Associated Press reported. "But we will work with any U.S. leader whom the American people trust."

Allegations have collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government in 2016 have persisted for years despite extensive reporting and investigations debunking that narrative.

Putin, for his part, has typically been critical of Biden throughout his tenure, especially amid the ongoing invasion of Ukraine, to which Biden has responded by encouraging military and financial support for Kyiv.
