Schumer rages at GOP Rep. Massie for 'antisemitic' meme
The Kentucky Republican has been a prominent critic of sending financial aid to other nation's amid the United States' own financial woes and has further opposed Washington's involving America in foreign conflicts such as the Ukraine War and the ongoing Israeli invasion of Gaza.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Tuesday raged against a "disgusting" social media post from Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie which suggested that Congress was more preoccupied with demonstrating its support for Israel than the United States.
Massie posted the meme ahead of a planned vote of a House resolution insisting that anti-Zionism amounts to antisemitism. Massie has vowed to oppose that measure.
The meme itself followed the format of pairing a message next to an image of the musician Drake in a stance demonstrating disapproval while pairing another next to an affirming image of him.

Schumer was not amused and reshared the image, saying "Rep. Massie, you're a sitting Member of Congress. This is antisemitic, disgusting, dangerous, and exactly the type of thing I was talking about in my Senate address. Take this down."
"If only you cared half as much about our border as you do my tweets," was Massie's reply.
The Kentucky Republican has been a prominent critic of sending financial aid to other nation's amid the United States' own financial woes and has further opposed Washington's involving America in foreign conflicts such as the Ukraine War and the ongoing Israeli invasion of Gaza.
In announcing he would oppose the upcoming House resolution, he shared footage of New York Democratic Rep. Jerold Nadler, the most senior Jewish member of the lower chamber, explicitly argument that anti-Zionism and antisemitism are distinct matters.
"The resolution states that all 'anti-Zionism is antisemitism.' That is either intellectually disingenuous or just factually wrong," Nadler said.
