Snubbing Youngkin, Biden hails MacAuliffe as 'real governor' at VA abortion rights rally

President Joe Biden on Tuesday earned the ire of Virginia Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin after hailing his 2021 electoral opponent, former Virginia Democratic Gov. Terry MacAuliffe, the "real governor" of the Old Dominion.

Appearing at an abortion rights rally in Virginia, Biden greeted the crowd, saying "Hello, Virginia!" which drew applause.

"And the real governor, Terry McAuliffe!" he followed up, earning a few chuckles.

The RNC Research account quipped that such a greeting rendered Biden an "election denier," referencing a preferred term of left-wing pundits and political figures for those contending that the 2020 presidential election was legitimately won by former President Donald Trump.

Youngkin, for his part, reacted on X, saying "Mr. President, I’m right here." Youngkin defeated MacAuliffe in the 2021 election. The Democratic candidate previously governed the state from 2014-2018. Virginia does not permit governors to serve consecutive terms.
