Texas GOP Rep. Fallon will seek reelection after all, spokesman confirms
Fallon's announcement comes as the Texas GOP delegation is poised to witness a significant shakeup due to the planned retirements of Reps. Michael Burgess and Kay Granger at the end of their current terms.
Texas Republican Rep. Pat Fallon will seek reelection to his congressional seat in 2024 after all, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The move represents an apparent reversal of plans to return to the Texas Senate, Politico noted. He filed on Monday to seek election to his old state Senate seat. He first won election to Congress in 2020.
Fallon's announcement comes as the Texas GOP delegation is poised to witness a significant shakeup due to the planned retirements of Reps. Michael Burgess and Kay Granger at the end of their current terms.
Both announced in November that they would not seek reelection in 2024, opening up two seats that are generally regarded as reliably Republican. Burgess, for his part, did not even face a Democratic challenger in 2022 and only had to contend with a Libertarian candidate.
Burgess has served in Congress since 2003 while Granger took office in 1997.
