The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed Tuesday that two planes were involved in a minor collision on the runway of Los Angeles International Airport in California.

The incident, which took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. Pacific time, occurred when the wing of a Delta Air Lines plane collided with the back of an Air Canada plane that was sitting at a gate. No injuries have been reported.

A Delta spokesperson told KTLA that its maintenance crews and airport teams are assessing the plane, working to accommodate customers and will be cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board on any investigation.

"Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and we apologize to our customers for the experience and delay in their travels,” the Delta spokesperson said.

The Delta flight was preparing to fly to Tokyo and the Air Canada plane originated in Toronto. The Air Canada flight was being towed to the gate after arriving when the collision occurred.

“As [the plane] was being towed to the gate after arriving on Oct. 6, an aircraft operated by another airline made contact with its tail,” a representative for Air Canada told the outlet. “There are no reported injuries. The Air Canada aircraft will be taken out of service for inspection and repairs.”

The FAA said it is investigating the incident.
