Former Maine Senate President Troy Jackson has raised more than $1 million since launching his bid for the Senate in the wake of Graham Platner's withdrawal.

His campaign told Politico that the figure includes more than 600,000 that he raised since Sunday, when he became the presumptive party nominee.

Jackson entered the race to replace Platner, after he dropped out due to an array of political scandals. He has since secured an overwhelming majority of state party delegates and is the presumptive Democratic candidate to face Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, in November.

The race is expected to be one of the most competitive in the battle for the House.
