Trump up 44 points over DeSantis for GOP nomination: poll

Former President Donald trump maintains his decisive lead in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, a recent survey has revealed.
Trump claims 58% support among Republicans in the latest TheMessenger/HarrisX survey. His nearest rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, trails by 44% with 14% support. Tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley lag behind with 7% and 6%, respectively.
Should Trump disappear from the race, however, DeSantis appears to be the plurality second choice, with 26% saying they would back him compared to 16% who preferred Ramaswamy.

In a head-to-head matchup, Trump leads Biden 45% to 41%.
Biden's approval rating among registered voters stands at 39% while 56% of voters disapprove of him.
Conducted Oct. 4-7, the survey questioned 2,982 registered voters and has a margin of error of +/- 1.8%.
