Trump up 7% over Biden, 51% over DeSantis: poll
Trump's lead in the Republican primary was even more formidable, with 62% of Republicans backing him for the party nomination.
Former President Donald Trump enjoys a considerable lead over President Joe Biden, even should the field include independent candidates Cornel West and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
In a straight matchup, Trump led Biden 47% to 40% in the latest The Messenger/HarrisX survey, with 13% unsure. That 7% lead declined somewhat when the undecideds were made to choose between them, with Trump earning 53% support to Biden's 47%.
In a four-way race, Trump again led by 7%, with 40% support to Biden's 33%, while Kennedy took 14%, West took 2%, and 11% were unsure. When undecideds weighed in, the margin again dropped to 6%, with Trump received 43%, Biden 37%, Kennedy 16%, and West 4%.
Trump's lead in the Republican primary was even more formidable, with 62% of Republicans backing him for the party nomination. His nearest challenger, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, took 11% support. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley with 10%, while entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie earned 4% and 2%, respectively.
Conducted Nov. 15-19, the survey questioned 3,017 registered voters, including 1,100 Republicans, and has a margin of error of +/- 1.8%.
