The Trump administration this week asked a federal judge to reject a challenge to a planned UFC fight at the White House after a pair of Virginia residents sued to stop the event.

The UFC fight is one of the keynote events for the celebration of the United States's 250th birthday. UFC Freedom 250 will feature seven fights across different weight classes and take place June 14.

The Trump administration, in their filing, insisted that it was too late to alter plans for the event, The Hill reported. 

“All these hopes could be dashed at the very last moment, however, by the whim of two people who believe they have superior taste and want to spoil the event for everyone else,” the DOJ asserted.

The suit comes from two Virginia residents, who have argued that the administration did not conduct an environmental review and failed to secure congressional approval through the proper channels.
