New York Gov. Kathy Hochul D, on Wednesday confirmed that the Trump administration had provided the remaining funds it owed to continue construction of a commuter tunnel.

"Following our preliminary court victory and my conversation with the President, the Trump Administration has released the remaining $127 million in overdue Gateway Tunnel funding," she posted on X.
"Construction resumes next week. A major win for workers and commuters.

We’ll keep fighting to ensure the federal government meets its commitments."

The Gateway Tunnel is set to run between New York and New Jersey. President Donald Trump has personally opposed the plan and insisted that the federal government would not assist with cost overruns.

"Gateway will likewise be financially catastrophic for the region, unless hard work and proper planning is done, NOW, to avoid insurmountable future cost overruns," he said on Truth Social this week. "Please let this statement represent the fact that, under no circumstances, will the Federal Government be responsible for ANY COST OVERRUNS - NOT ONE DOLLAR! The Federal Government is willing to meet, however, to make sure that this does not happen!"
