President Donald Trump called for making interest payments on car loans tax deductible if the vehicle was made in the United States during his address to Congress on Tuesday evening.

"I also want to make interest payments on car loans tax deductible, but only if the car is made in America," he said.

The announcement came as Trump touted his efforts to bolster the American economy, provide tax relief to U.S. citizens, and encourage domestic production.
