Trump cheers surge in consumer confidence ahead of midterms
Trump's remarks follow revelations that the consumer confidence index rose 7.5 points, from 84.2 in September, to 91.7 in October.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday celebrated reports of a rise in consumer confidence ahead of the midterms, which delivered some badly needed positive economic news for Republicans.
"BREAKING NEWS: Consumer Confidence is up 7.5%, an extremely big rise. Thank you! President DONALD J. TRUMP" he posted on Truth Social.
Trump's remarks follow revelations that the consumer confidence index rose 7.5 points, from 84.2 in September, to 91.7 in October.
The index's rise marks a modest improvement from prior lows, and comes as Trump's approval on the economy remains underwater. The economic situation is expected to weigh heavily on voters when they head to the polls in November.
