Former President Donald Trump's campaign on Monday released an ad targeting former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley ahead of the Republican primary in the Palmetto State.

Entitled "Intrigue," the ad juxtaposes campaign claims that Haley opposed the gas tax while governor with footage of her advocating for such a policy.

It features South Carolina GOP Sen. Tim Scott, who endorsed Trump, discussing Haley's advocacy for the gas tax, as well as news footage from the time, alongside Haley's own comments.

"If you have to lie to win, you don't deserve to win," Haley says in the ad, shortly before the footage cuts to an image of Trump, with him voicing his approval of the message.

The South Carolina primary is slated for Feb. 24 and Trump currently maintains a near two-to-one lead over Haley in her home state.
