Trump leads Biden in battleground Pennsylvania: poll

Former President Donald Trump has staked out a modest lead in the critical swing state of Pennsylvania, edging out President Joe Biden by 2% in a recent survey.

Head to head, Trump led Biden 45% to 43% among registered voters in an Emerson College/TheHill survey, with 12% undecided. His lead more than doubled with the inclusion of independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., independent Cornel West, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

In that lineup, Trump led with 42%, Biden trailed with 37%, Kennedy earned 8%, West earned 2%, and Stein commanded 1% support, with 12% undecided. Some of Trump's lead appears to stem from significant independent support.

"Pennsylvania independent voters break for Biden over Trump 41% to 35%," said Emerson College Polling Executive Director Spencer Kimball.

Trump claimed Pennsylvania in the 2016 presidential election but lost the state to Biden in the 2020 contest. Biden currently maintains an average 0.6% lead in the Keystone State according to RealClearPolitics, which includes the Emerson College survey.

Conducted Feb. 14-16, the survey questioned 1,000 registered voters and has a credibility interval of +/- 3%.
