Trump open to VP Vivek: 'He’s got good energy'
Ramaswamy in July said that he would not serve in a Trump cabinet.
Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday appeared to express openness to picking tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy as his running mate in 2024.
Ramaswamy is currently running against Trump for the Republican nomination and places third in most polls behind the ex-commander-in-chief and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Appearing on BlazeTV, Trump responded to a question from host Glenn Beck on the prospect of choosing Ramaswamy as his running mate, saying "I think he's great ... He's a smart guy. He's a young guy. He's got a lot of talent."
"He's got good energy, and he could be in some form of something. I tell ya, I think he'd be very good. I think he's really distinguished himself," Trump went on.
Ramaswamy in July said that he would not serve in a Trump cabinet.
"I think the right way to drive change for me in this country, if I'm not in this race, is through the private sector as I've been doing," he said. "We all have to look ourselves in the mirror and ask ourselves, how can we make our unique contributions? I think there's a lot of talented politicians, and if there's a need for another politician to fill some rank, there's a great deep bench to choose from."
"I think in our movement, there's a lot thinner of a bench when it comes to people who actually know how to build great enterprises, achieve great success," he continued.
The tech mogul has increasingly attracted attention amid his polling surge and was a key fixture of the Republican presidential primary debate last week, which Trump did not attend.
