In an apparent troll, President Donald Trump retruthed a CNBC article quoting Russian President Vladimir Putin as predicting that Europe would "stand at the feet of the master" as the Republican ramps up tariffs.

"I assure you: Trump, with his character, with his persistence, he will restore order there quite quickly," Putin told reporters. "And all of them, you will see — it will happen quickly, soon — they will all stand at the feet of the master and will wag their tails a little. Everything will fall into place."

Though the remark was clearly pejorative toward European nations, invoking the image of the continent's leaders prostrating themselves before the commander-in-chief, Putin did seem to sincerely express the belief that Trump would get the better of America's trading partners in the negotiations.

Trump previously promised to end the Russia-Ukraine War within 24 hours. Though he did not meet that self-imposed deadline, he has pursued negotiations on the matter.

Trump's retruth of the article, seemingly in jest, also appeared designed to demonstrate confidence that his trade reforms would succeed.
