Trump says Ukraine, Russia 'a little off' as energy strikes continue
Trump previously announced that Moscow and Kyiv had agreed to an energy ceasefire, though both nations continued to target one another's energy production facilities after Trump declared a cessation of such strikes.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday appeared to downplay continued strikes by Russia and Ukraine on energy targets, despite his own claim that both nations had agreed to an energy ceasefire.
Trump previously announced that Moscow and Kyiv had agreed to an energy ceasefire, though both nations continued to target one another's energy production facilities after Trump declared a cessation of such strikes.
“They agreed. You know why? Because I said, 'You agree' — that's why. They agreed because I said they agreed," he told reporters on Tuesday.
"Well, Ukraine hit many sites the day before," Trump said, in response to a reporter pressing him on recent Russian strikes. "They're hitting each other, but it will all come to an end."
Trump previously campaigned on ending the war within 24 hours of returning to the White House, though that deadline has long since passed.
Earlier this month, Trump announced that he had reached an agreement with Russia to inject diesel fuel into global markets, hoping to stabilize prices amid the Iran war.
