Trump soars to 41-point lead in GOP primary: poll
Trump currently enjoys a 40.2% lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average.
Former President Donald Trump has climbed to a 41-point lead in his bid for the 2024 Republican nomination, a recent survey has shown.
In the latest Morning Consult survey, Trump earned 57% support among primary voters, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis taking second place with 16%. Tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy took third place with 9% while former Vice President Mike Pence came in fourth with 7%.
Conducted from August 11-13, the survey preceded Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis's Monday indictment of the former president over his efforts to challenge the election results in Georgia.
Trump currently enjoys a 40.2% lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average.
The GOP's first presidential debate is slated for Aug. 23, though Trump has not committed to attending, due in part to a party-mandated pledge to endorse its eventual nominee, which he has refused to sign.
