President Donald Trump on Tuesday cheered his administration's efforts to rein in the Endangered Species Act, which he said had been inappropriately expanded by activists to prevent legitimate industry and government affairs.

"For far too long, Radical Climate Activists attempted to hold our Great Country hostage by drastically and unreasonably expanding the intended scope of the Endangered Species Act," he posted on Truth Social. "This was complete and total regulatory overreach by unelected bureaucrats!"

"They treated Americans very unfairly by stifling the production of important resources like Oil, Natural Gas, and Timber, and blocking the construction of family homes and critical Infrastructure," he added. "Even our Military couldn’t train on land that was deemed 'off limits' to protect a little rodent! Now my Administration has returned the Endangered Species Act to how it was intended to be, just as the Great Justice Antonin Scalia has explained in previous cases. While responsibly protecting our beautiful Country, the United States of America is going to BUILD again."

The Endangered Species Act is a 1973 law creating the modern endangered species list. The administration, last month, finalized a series of revisions to relegations under the legislation.

“We are following the original intent of the law, looking at the facts on the ground and listening to local voices when making decisions under the Endangered Species Act,” Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said at the time. “Multi-generational families on America’s working lands care deeply about wildlife, clean air, clean water, and healthy habitat. Along with states, they are the front lines of making recovery possible for endangered species.”
