Trump vows to 'totally complete' rebuilding of western NC

Former President Donald Trump on Monday vowed to "totally complete" the rebuilding of western North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
"I will support and totally complete the rebuilding of every region and town and city that was devastated by the hurricane, and I will slash through every bureaucratic barrier that you're having already and having problems with," he said at a press conference in Asheville, N.C.
He further promised to "personally recruit businesses from all over the world to help restore the prosperity to the region they'll be moving in."
Helene devastated the western portion of the state in late September, killing more than 200 people and causing extensive flood damage. Some towns, such as Chimney Rock, have been almost entirely slept away.
