Texas GOP Rep. Monica De La Cruz said this week that Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas doesn't deserve the privileges granted to him due to his position since he's not doing his job at the southern border.

“Secretary Mayorkas’ failure to secure the southern border has hurt all Americans,” De La Cruz said during a news conference. “This has produced a humanitarian crisis in communities like mine along the southern border. Enough is enough.”

The congresswoman also introduced the “Mayorkas Must Fly Coach Until We Secure the Border Act," which would strip the DHS secretary’s office of funding for private flights and result in Mayorkas flying commercially for work.

“If he refuses to fulfill the most basic functions of his office, he should be stripped of the private flights he currently enjoys, courtesy of American taxpayers, until he does his job," De La Cruz said in a statement to the Daily Wire.

The bill has gotten support from Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Andy Ogles (R-TN), Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Mayorkas has gotten a lot of backlash over the past two years from Republicans for his handling of the southern border crisis which has surged under President Joe Biden.

Some GOP members in the House and the Senate have called for Mayorkas to be impeached, including Texas GOP Rep. Pat Fallon.
