Vice President JD Vance on Thursday indicated that the U.S. would not negotiate with Iran to end the ongoing war until Tehran stopped attacking commercial shipping.

"We're not talking to them, and we're not going to talk to them unless they stop shooting at commercial shipping," he said during the White House press briefing.

The U.S. recently launched another wave of strikes on Iran, citing renewed efforts by their government to interfere with commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Since the start of the conflict in late February, Iranian forces have attempted to disrupt the supply of oil passing through the waterway, a move that prompted the Trump administration to order a counter-blockade of the strait.

Vance previously led American negotiations with Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan that culminated in a now-abandoned Memorandum of Understanding between the warring nations.
