Vance vows to lower cost of housing, laments American Dream 'out of reach' for young people

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, on Tuesday vowed to drive down the cost of housing for young people, insisting that they could not achieve the American Dream in part due to the influx of illegal immigrants driving up demand.

"Deporting those illegal immigrants, it's not just about law and order," he said. "As important as that is, it's about lowering the cost of housing for American citizens, and that's what we have to fight to do."

Vance made the remarks at a rally in Sparta, Mich.

"You've got young people in this country today who are paupers in their own nation. They've got a ton of debt, they're borrowed a lot, but they have no chance of a stake in their own country," he lamented. "The American Dream of home ownership is completely out of reach for millions of young Americans, and when Donald J. Trump is president, that's going to stop."

"We're going to fight for their American Dreams. We're going to fight for young people to be able to buy a home, and we're going to stop sending American homes to foreigners," he vowed. "On day one, we're going to start building more homes again so that young people can afford the American dream of homeownership."
