Warren Buffett deputy Charlie Munger dead at 99
Munger's personal fortune cleared $2 billion at one point, though he gradually gave away much of his wealth to various charities prior to his death.
Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett's longtime aide-de-camp at Berkshire Hathaway, died Tuesday at the age of 99.
Growing up in Omaha, Neb., Munger met Buffett in 1959. The pair first purchased shares in Berkshire Hathaway in 1962 and gradually built up the firm's value from $7 to $8 per share to more than $540,000 each as of Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
"Berkshire Hathaway could not have been built to its present status without Charlie’s inspiration, wisdom and participation," Buffett said.
