The National Council of Resistance of Iran is staging a rally in New York City to protest state executions in the country, ahead of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's speech to the UN.

President-elect of the NCRI Maryam Rajavi delivered the following remarks:

The presence at the United Nations of perpetrators of crimes against humanity and those implicated in genocide makes a mockery of human rights, peace, and justice. Those whose hands are stained with the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Iran and across the region must be expelled from the United Nations.
Iran’s seat belongs to the Iranian people and their legitimate Resistance for peace, freedom, and a democratic republic. As long as this regime remains in power, repression, executions, terrorism, and warmongering will continue. The solution is regime change by the Iranian people and their organized Resistance. Such change is within reach.
The message of the Iranian people today is that they will overthrow the religious fascism ruling Iran, whatever the cost. This is the message of the Resistance Units. It is the message of political prisoners enduring torture and facing execution.
The solution to the Iranian crisis is not war or foreign intervention. The Iranian people and their organized Resistance have the capacity and the competence to bring about the great change Iran needs.
Mrs. Rajavi said that the July 2024 report of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the executions and massacre of political prisoners in the 1980s, Amnesty International’s report on the suppression of the 2022 uprising, and the report of the International Fact-Finding Mission on the 2025–2026 uprising leave no doubt that the regime’s leaders were directly involved in crimes against humanity and genocide.
When such savage violations are met with inaction, the regime concludes that it also has a free hand to pursue its nuclear weapons program and foment war across the region.
The people of Iran, who have risen in revolt, reject every form of dictatorship, whether religious or monarchical, and are advancing with unwavering determination towards a democratic republic. Our 60-year struggle against the Shah and the mullahs, for freedom and independence, will continue until the democratic revolution triumphs.
We call upon the international community to recognize the Iranian people’s right to overthrow the regime and the right of the Resistance Units and the National Liberation Army to confront the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
