Williamson rejects Andrew Yang's call to drop out and endorse Dean Phillips in Dem primary

Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson on Thursday rebuffed calls from Andrew Yang to drop out of the Democratic primary and endorse Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., who has also challenged President Joe Biden for the party nomination.

Biden currently maintains a commanding lead in the Democratic primary, earning 70.0% in the RealClearPolitics polling average. Williamson and Phillips, meanwhile, boast 7.0% and 3.3% support, respectively.

Yang on Thursday urged Williamson to drop out, saying "Dean is our best chance to change things. I am looking forward to serving in his administration and I hope that you will join us."

His remarks earned a stern rejection from Williamson.

"Wow [Andrew Yang]! The days of a woman stepping aside on the assumption that a man can do a better job are over. Deeply disappointed in you guys. And the answer is no," she posted on X.

Yang and Williamson both unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination in 2016, but lost out to Biden.
