Wisconsin GOP lawmakers boot election integrity firebrand from party caucus

The Republican caucus in Wisconsin's State Assembly has voted to ban election integrity watchdog Rep. Janel Brandtjen from attending party meetings.

The caucus sent Brandtjen a letter, dated Nov. 11 and signed chair Rep. Rob Summerfield, to explain the decision. It did not, however, specify any specific issue the caucus took with the legislator.

"[T]he members voted to no longer allow you to participate in closed caucus," the letter read, according to the Epoch Times. "The continual issues from the past have led our caucus to lose trust in you. For this reason, the vote was taken."

Brandtjen made public her ban from party meetings in a Wednesday press release."A short, three-sentence letter was delivered to my office stating I was being barred from participating in future closed caucuses," she wrote.

"There was no specification as to what these 'continual issues' were. I am assuming this is in regard to my role as chairperson of the Committee on Campaigns and Elections and my continuing work to strengthen voting integrity in Wisconsin."

The Wisconsin lawmaker has been an advocate for tightening election security measures in the state.
