The deadline to avert a government shutdown is fast approaching and House lawmakers have struggled to advance all of their appropriations bills in time. Newly-minted House Speaker Mike Johnson has suggested the lower chamber may pass a continuing resolution to buy more time to negotiate on the budget for 2024.
