The Biden administration's EV mandates will create such a large demand for charging that, to avoid hour-long wait times for EV owners, an additional 166,000 fast DC charging stations will need to be built for a cost of $3.4 billion.

The stations are part of 53 projects costing $23 million that were announced in May in the state as part of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program.
A separate survey of businesses that build electric vehicle charging stations found that three out of four can't find enough electricity to make their stations viable.
