Crowds ignore social distancing to greet USNS Comfort

<p>Mayor de Blasio blasted New Yorkers who crowded to see the USNS Comfort arrive in the city on Monday for failing to spread out to help stop the transmission of coronavirus.</p><p>“That’s unacceptable,” de Blasio said Monday when asked about the onlookers who didn’t practice social distancing while cramping together to watch the naval hospital ship dock at Pier 90 on the Upper West Side.</p><p>De Blasio authorized the NYPD to begin issuing fines up to $500 an incident to those who ignore warnings to disperse large gatherings or spread out.</p>
