AG Garland says special counsel has ‘followed the facts’ in Trump indictment

Shortly after former President Donald Trump was indicted, Attorney General Merrick Garland told a reporter Tuesday that special counsel Jack Smith and his team had “followed the facts and the law” in their probe investigating Trump’s efforts to challenge the 2020 election. Garland added that Smith’s role underlined the Justice Department’s “commitment to accountability and independence.”
