Australian flooding leaves hundreds without power in Victoria

Residents in Mooroopna and Shepparton in northern Victoria, Australia, were advised to shelter in the high locations as the Goulburn River peaked, causing extensive flooding on Monday, October 17. VicEmergency services issued the emergency warning as the floodwaters made it impossible to evacuate. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the Goulburn River peaked at 39.5 feet (12.06 meters) on Monday morning. Around 500 customers remained without power in the Mooroopna region on Tuesday, CitiPower and Powercor Australia said.
