An enormous winter storm is intensifying, blasting almost half of the U.S. Powerful winds are bringing life-threatening low temperatures and blizzard warnings from Denver to New York. Nearly 2,000 flights were canceled Thursday with more expected Friday, stranding thousands during the busy holiday travel season.
